Dear Sea Bass Savers
Please email the EU Commission and tell them that you want them to take immediate emergency measures to stop the fishing for sea bass on spawning areas: [email protected]
Update/Background Info:
The Bad News: the EU fisheries Ministers failed to agree on any measures to cut fishing for sea bass when they met on 15 December. The rumour is that the French were not prepared to accept any reduction in the amount of sea bass they can catch. Complete disregard for the legal requirement to manage the stock sustainably by following the scientists' advice.
The Good News: our Fisheries Minister, George Eustice MP, and DEFRA have taken the magnificent unilateral step of asking the EU Commission to introduce emergency measures to stop the pair trawling that takes place each Winter/Spring in the sea bass spawning areas:
"In line with the commitment made at Council, the UK stands ready to work with the Commission and the other Member States involved in this fishery to take measures to protect this stock from the start of January 2015. Given the urgency of the situation, we are hereby making a reasoned request, under the terms of Article 12 of the CFP Regulation (1380/2013), for the Commission to adopt emergency measures to alleviate the serious threat to the sea bass stock. To reduce fishing pressure by protecting the spawning aggregations the UK proposes the adoption of measures to close area VIIe to pelagic trawlers targeting bass during January to April 2015."
The EU Commission now has to decide within the next few weeks if it will act on the UK's request. The French commercial fishers are angry about the UK's request and will be vigorously lobbying the EU Commission to persuade them not to take action.
Let's tell the EU Commission that we care deeply about this and that they need to listen to us, not the owners of the 60 or so French pair trawlers that are destroying the sea bass population for short term profits!
Best wishes, David Curtis

Not quite over the club minimum weight but over 40cm and big enough for Billy's Tea
What a beauty!
Gary Sicolo with his superb flounder weighing 1655g (about 3lbs 10oz)
This easily beats the old club record that has stood since the 1960s
The fish, after recovering in West Cornwall Angling's sandeel tank, was returned alive.

Club measures now available from Mermaid Tackle, West Cornwall Angling and Newtown Angling
In preparation for Catch and Release the club has commissioned it's own waterproof measuring tapes with club badge.
They unroll to 150cm in total. They will sold to club members for £5 (£3 less than cost). As you can see the white figures against black show up well. Don't forget you will need to photograph your fish next to a measure to qualify.

AGM Report 2nd December:
The club made one of the most important decisions during it's existence.
For all day to day fishing catch and release will now be in operation. Full details will be in your club book but the basics are:
1.You may catch and release all fish including specimens.
2.You must photograph your fish next to a measure and the photo must be sent to the webmaster or a weigh master within 48 hours. If at all possible there should also be a photo of the angler holding the fish.
3.Fish should be weighed at least twice and the lowest weight taken if there is a difference.
4.Club Records must be brought to the scales if you wish to claim the record.
Please note that your released fish may not be eligible for the CFSA depending on any CFSA rule changes for 2015.
For next year fish must still be weighed for the club shore league competitions.
Anglers still have the choice to keep fish if they wish.
Fish should only be returned if they have a good chance of survival.
Proposals to increase the number of hooks/rods failed to find a seconder.
Officers elected-the list on the Home Page for 2015 has been updated.
Malcolm Gilbert (the CFSA Conservation Officer) was honoured with a Life Membership of MBAS for his outstanding work on behalf of recreational sea angling.

Flounder of 1075g (about 2-5) for Gary Sicolo
Super flounder of 3-1-6 weighed in by Chris Doyle
Chairman Mike Delbridge increases his lead in the Bass Competition with a lovely fish of about 6lbs 1oz
Congratulations to Gary Sicolo who won the Western Morning News Final on Sunday.
He weighed in a superb thornback of 11-11-12 which is also a new club shore record.
The weigh in was up at St Dennis but the journey was worthwhile as the cash prize more than paid for his fuel.

Some very good fish weighed in for the Presidents Comp (Greenwood Rosebowl) on Sunday.
The pasties were lovely and it was interesting to talk to anglers who went to different places. Those in the wind froze to death and those out of the wind got sunburn.
Winner was Paul Robinson with an excellent spotted ray of 4-14-9 -returned alive.
Well done again to young Billy Williams who caught yet another good 2lbs+ flounder.
The wrasse pictured was not dumped but mixed with pollack to make lovely fishcakes.

It happened again!
It's not the same fish as the one below, just it's twin brother. This one weighed in at 2180g or about 4lbs 13oz
Perhaps in a few years time the bass will have gone and we will be surf fishing for giltheads instead.

Neil Clark and Mark Putt had a successful short trip after work.
Neil landed a super small eyed ray of 5315g-not far short of 12lbs and Mark broke his ray duck with a fish of 2985g -about 6lbs 9oz.
Neil landed a super small eyed ray of 5315g-not far short of 12lbs and Mark broke his ray duck with a fish of 2985g -about 6lbs 9oz.
Went west again for a daytime bass and thought I'd hooked a beauty-fought like mad and it looked really plump in the white water. Finally out came a Gilthead bream of 2060g -just over 4lbs 8oz
Went west today, hoping for a bass or turbot but ended up catching a few mackerel instead-like summer out of the wind
What's going on here then?
Meeting 11th November
Treasurer reported a good profit on the Open Comp. This was especially noteworthy as we had 14 good prizes and £100 worth of free pasties for entrants.
Thanks again the Mermaid Bait and Tackle.
Pete Kessell reminded members of forthcoming comps.
Bass Comp -all of November: Greenwood Rosebowl Sunday 23rd Nov: RexThomas flounder Comp Sun. Dec 7th.
Shore KO Final Paul Robinson v Gary Sicolo -one fish November one fish December
Reminder that the CFSA Christmas Shore Comp is on Dec. 6th/7th-need to enter in advance.
The Chairman read out the proposal from St Columb Club on introducing Catch and Release into CFSA. The members were in agreement with the principal and have offered to second the motion.
The members of Mounts Bay have really strong feelings about the future direction of the CFSA and feel the organisation must move away from organising comps and more towards promoting and securing the future of recreational sea angling.
Malcolm Gilbert's/Brian Collick's (and others) efforts need to be applauded and supported which we do not feel is happening at the moment.

Look what Ellie Williams caught at the Junior Comp. on Sunday-but Shad are a protected species so she had to put it back.
David Cains bought himself a new reel so he could cast to the horizon but it must be faulty as his first cast with it shows
Went down to Church Cove today-only caught a few LSDs but saw an interesting site come round the corner.
Meeting Tuesday 14th October
David Cains reported:We now have 121 members -
This year 55 seniors and 12 jnrs entered the Annual Festival and the Festival therefore made a very healthy profit.
Thanks to all those that helped with the organisation of the event.
On Friday evening there is a CFSA EGM and the Junior August Festival prizegiving at St Dennis where a number of our juniors will receive awards.
There are 3 proposals for the EGM:
1. All clubs must provide a full list of contact details (email etc.) to the CFSA-Mounts Bay will vote for this.
2. All clubs should pay £2 per member to cover the cost of fighting for conservation measures-Mounts is strongly in favour of this as we feel the CFSA is not there to organise competitions but to represent anglers and fight for the future of angling.
3. A proposal setting out new rules for the CFSA float/spin competition-Mounts Bay is against this proposal as we feel it will lead to too many fish being killed. We feel that inter club comps need rethinking.
Fish Recorders Report-on Will Harveys Page.
Pete Kessell gave a report on the Newlyn Pier Comp and Mark Putt was presented with his pool money for winning the comp.Mark also gets 7 points in the shore league with all others attending getting 1 point.
Members were also reminded that there are 2 comps in November-the month long bass comp and the Greenwood Rosebowl on Sunday 23rd November.
Catch and Release: (to be voted on at the AGM-first Tuesday in December)
It is proposed that from January 2015 members will be allowed to catch and release all fish when engaged in day to day angling. This would include boat and shore angling and specimen fish. All fish would have to be photographed next to a tape measure and if possible with the angler holding the fish. These photographs must appear on the club's website for all to see.
It would not include club records. Record fish must be weighed officially if you wish to claim the record.
This in no way should stop members keeping fish for the table and weighing in as normal if they wish.
Members should also only release fish that have a good chance of survival.
If you wish your fish to be entered into the CFSA you must continue to bring your fish to the scales.
For 2015 The Shore League Comps would continue to run as normal with fish being brought to the scales.

The Newlyn Harbour Competition 2014
26 members turned out for the Newlyn comp and there were plenty of fish to keep everyone amused but unfortunately there were only two over the club minimum.
The winner was Mark Putt with a mackerel of 358g (pool £14) - 2nd was jnr Devon Thomas with a mackerel of 340g.
The jnr/snr pairs comp was won by Devon and his uncle with 290points and runners up were Mark and Perran Willey with 205points.
It was good to see Sam Davis there who is now the new Chief Officer of the Cornwall IFCA. She is keen to understand the strength of the local angling scene and how it contributes to the local and how our club encourages youngsters to participate. Thanks to her for giving up her time on a Sunday afternoon.

A lovely shore caught trigger fish for Roger Peters of 1.390kg (about 3lbs 1oz)
It might not be big enough to feed a family of four but it's still the first ever weighed into the club and therefore a new club record. This Atlantic Bonito of 0-8-4 was also good enough to win Gary Sicolo 2nd place in the CFSA Comp. fished on Sunday
Another great day for Liam with a blonde of 23lbs and a ballan wrasse of 4-11. The ray was immediately released unharmed as she was laying eggs in the kayak!

James Spires-Live update-straight from the rocks
Sad to report on the death of Jack Reynolds from Newlyn.
Jack was one of the earliest and keenest members of the club and for a while ran the junior section which met upstairs in one of Jack's buildings in Newlyn.
Jack had his own lorries-red ones- and for years one of his jobs was to take away the heads and guts from the pilchard works. He always had a bucket of browse with him when he went fishing.
I can remember as a lad being drawn against Jack in the knockout -in the days when you fished together-and he took me to Shag Rock up near Morvah. He could often be found fishing on the rocks between Morvah and Gurnards Head.
There was always a great rivalry between Jack and Dennis Allcorn during the Festival each year-both trying to win the heaviest bag and greatest total weight of fish caught throughout the whole Festival. They both spent a lot of time congering after work to boost their weights.
Jack's funeral is at Trinity Methodist, Newlyn Friday 19th Sept. 2pm
Donations to Cornwall Air Ambulance or Hospital Lg of Friends

News from the meeting of 9th September

A.O.B.
The question of smoothound identification was raised and members present seemed to be in agreement that from 2015 smoothounds will be classed as a single species on the clubs weight list.
Next year in the festival the 3 man team event could be replaced by a pairs event. The pairs best 3 fish-all dif species would be counted but the fish could be caught by either angler. This would be decided definately when discussing the festival in the new year-any other ideas for changes would be welcome. Although the treasurer has yet to collect all the tickets and money it seems we have had a very successful festival-full report next month.
BBQ and prize giving Saturday 6.30pm onwards. Raffle prizes needed please.
Next came a long discussion on the catch and release debate. at the October meeting we will need to agree a proposal to put to the full membership at the AGM.
Have a look at the Catch and Release Page to see where we are at the moment.

Something a bit different for Gary Sicolo a blonde ray of 3438g (about 7-7) biggest for a long time from the shore in the club. Theclub record is 9lbs 10oz by Steven Watkins back in the 1970s.
Good to see Keith and James back fishing again-they ran out of golf balls.
Keith nearly had a specimen scad if it wasn't for Sammy the seal and James would have had a specimen small eyed if he caught it in 2018. They both had spotties on their first try.

The juniors had a brilliant boat trip out on the Mermaid with skipper Adrian Thomas. They caught pollack, mackerel, codling, poor cod, scad and whiting. For many of the group these were their first ever boat caught fish.
Thanks so much to Mermaid Bait and Tackle for their sponsorship of the juniors. www.cornwallboattrips.co.uk
Thanks also to Paul Robinson and Mark Willey for giving up their time to make this possible for the juniors.

Weighing of fish from 2015? (Discussion starter for next meeting Aug.12th)
From both boat and shore, fish with a specimen weight of 4lbs or over may be weighed by the angler and returned to the water. (Sharks should be measured not weighed?)
1. Metric digital scales must be used.
2. Fish should be weighed as carefully as possible, at least twice, and the lowest weight taken.
3. A photograph of the fish alongside a tape measure must appear on the club's website.
4. A photograph of the angler holding the fish should also be available if at all possible.
5. Fish should not be weighed by putting the scales hook into the gills.
If the above rules are followed the fish will be accepted by the club even without a witness.
A fish beating a club, Cornish or British record must be retained for official weighing. (unless you don't wish to claim the record)
If a fish is retained for eating or because it will not survive it must then be weighed on official scales.
Do we allow the above even during comps-would anglers be allowed to come back to the weigh in with photographs instead of fish. What about the Festival? We don't want to lose the social side of the club.
Many may think that boat fish cannot be weighed accurately when afloat -but is weighing- even on a moving boat actually more accurate than measuring? Very difficult to weigh sharks-should we measure some other boat as well.
Mounts Bay members must note that if these-or similar-rules were adopted your fish could not be entered into the CFSA as rules stand at present.
If you don't like all or any of the above come to the meeting on Tuesday 12th August-or send your views to the Chairman or to [email protected]

Chairman and West Cornwall Angling shop deputy manager Mike Delbridge braved the rain last night and was rewarded with this bass of a fraction under 2kg (about 4lbs 5oz)
Billy Williams
Had an early call from Billy's dad this morning. Having weighed in a flounder of 606g yesterday evening he was out at first light this morning when he hooked into this lovely bream of 1.295kg (nearly 3lbs).
The fish was kept alive in a bucket and hopefully swam away after weighing.

Specimen rockling of 860g (about 1-14-8) for Gary Sicolo
A good turnout for the Peterson Shield and Pz Town Band Trophy resulted in one man winning both.
Mark Willey won the Peterson Shield with a mullet and bream combination totalling 151% and the taking the Pz Town Band Trophy with his mullet of 3-6-6. Mark also won £16 in the pool.
Other good fish were weighed in by Paul Robinson -thornback and LSD and Jason Brown-gilthead bream- and Will Harvey-golden grey-to claim good shore league points.( The shore league has been updated on the shore league page)
The junior Cornishman Cup was won by David Massimino Jenkins with a 15oz mackerel-a lot of the seniors were jealous.
Note: The Chairman and Vice Chairman both tried to weigh in undersize fish!
Full Result
Mark Willey Gilthead 3-5-3 Mullet 3-6-6 10 shore league points
Paul Robinson Thornback 5-4-5 LSD 2-3-7 7 shore league points
Will Harvey Golden Grey 1-5-12 6 shore league points
Jason Brown Gilthead 2-14-15 3
David Massimino jnr mackerel 0-15-3
As you can see the open coast is still fishing very badly-still very few mackerel/garfish/pollack showing.
At August's meeting we will decide which charity will receive the money raised by those that entered.

I tried to cheat -but it didn't work
Down at the Helford the other day I hooked into what felt like a good wrasse. Got it part the way in and it took me into the reef. I waited for nearly an hour to get it out and although it kept moving I couldn't get it up.
Where's a kayak when you need one- and then one came round the corner. After a bit of frantic waving and a quick explanation the battle began. They paddled and towed for a good 5 minutes-"it's really fighting," he said.
He got hold of my 50lbs leader and wrapped it round his oar and pulled and pulled. Eventually the trace snapped but at least I didn't leave the fish towing 30ft of leader.
Reckon it was well over 7lbs- I'll weigh it in as catch and release.

Members are still very welcome to fish the North Pier and other forshore areas and may use their membership cards as a permit. Other clubs and individual anglers must pay £10 per annum for a permit.
Mike Delbridge had a long meeting with the Harbourmaster who he said was actually very open and supportive. It is hoped that in future facilities may be improved for anglers on the North Pier and that the club will have a representative on a new Harbour Comittee.

The Future of Recreational Sea Angling
Date: 10 July 2014, 7-9 pm
Location: New County Hall, Truro, Trelawney Room
All welcome
Do you fish for sport or a hobby in Cornwall? Do you want to have a say in how the inshore waters around Cornwall are managed? Cornwall IFCA is holding a public meeting to discuss the development of a Recreational Sea Angling Strategy for Cornwall.
Cornwall IFCA is looking to involve as many voices in the formation of its Recreational Sea Angling Strategy as possible. If you have an interest in the way inshore fisheries are managed or would like to find out more about how Cornwall IFCA manages the fisheries please come along to the open meeting.
This is the first sector specific strategy Cornwall IFCA has produced and as such represents a major step in recognising the value and importance of the recreational sector in the Cornish fisheries. This is your opportunity to become involved in this process from the start.
“Recreational angling represents an important and vibrant part of the overall picture of fishing in Cornwall. The Recreational Sea Angling strategy represents a golden opportunity for anglers themselves to take an active role in developing how this sector could be managed”.
Sam Davis, Principal Scientific Officer, Cornwall IFCA
All are welcome to the public meeting and there is no need to book a place, however if you would like any further information please contact Cornwall IFCA on 01736 338842 or e-mail [email protected]

Following on from the discussions at the last meeting here's an idea to ponder.
From January 2015 all fish with a specimen weight of 4lbs or higher do not have to be brought back to the scales. Fish may be weighed/measured and returned provided the following points are noted.
A photograph must be taken of the fish alongside a tape measure and this photograph must appear on the club's website. Every effort should also be made to provide a second photograph of the fish being held by the angler.
There does not need to be a witness as long as the photographic evidence is provided. Club records would still have to weighed officially if you wish to claim them.
Note that the above is not official club club policy but just an idea to be discussed. The problem of weighing fish on a boat would need a lot of thought as we would need to obtain conversion charts for a lot of fish or award trophies on measurement not weight.
There would need to be a lot of trust and as rules stand it would mean that our club's fish would not be eligible for the Cfsa

Meeting of 10thJune;:
The meeting was largely taken up by a discussion on future club and CFSA weighing rules.
CFSA: The following ideas from Mounts Bay will be put to the CFSA.
1.All club scales be certified every year and copy sent to CFSA but that we do away with annual CFSA scale checking session. The CFSA should trust the clubs to weigh fish accurately.
2. That CFSA 100% fish do not need to be retained but there must be photographic evidence that appears on the website for all to see. (CFSA record fish would still need to be retained if angler wishes to claim record)
3. That the CFSA does not hold competitions where money is involved-we feel this is what clubs should be doing and that the CFSA should be more of representative federation. Money comps cause stress and lack of trust!
4. That some species be eligible for catch and release with photographic evidence appearing on website.(see below)
Mounts Bay Club:
The meeting was in full agreement that we should make a big step towards catch and release in 2015.
It was felt that we could begin by nominating certain species that would be accepted by the Fish Recorder as long as photographic evidence was available and appeared on the club website for all to see.
Species might include: Rays, Huss, Ballan Wrasse,Thick Lip Mullet,Bass, Shark, Tope,Spurdog etc. These are fish that may not be eaten or where specimen weights are high enough to not effect percentages so much or where identification is not an issue.
Fish from the shore would be weighed but what about boat fish? Should we measure all boat fish?
The above will be talked about again at the next few meetings before a proposal is put to the AGM in December with new rules coming into force on Jan. 1st 2015. Be aware that catch and release in the club may make your fish ineligible for CFSA awards.
If you don't agree or have other ideas you had better start coming to the meetings!
How about starting by going to the meeting at County Hall on July 10th (see details below) especially if you make your living out of Sea Angling!
Couple of other points:
Andy Tetley Richards is 50 on July 5th and is having a party at the Bath Inn-all club members invited.
The above means there is some doubt about the conger trip on July 6th!
Tre Pol Pen 2nd leg June 29th- Badger will be in touch.
Mullet comp is in full swing -sign on for pool and shore league at tackle shops.
Knockout round 2 ends June 30th.
We now have 112 members-last night we welcomed new members Ben Rodwell and Rex Thomas

To all Mounts Bay Members
As you are all aware the CFSA has put a tremendous amount of time into gathering a petition of several thousand signatures asking for an end to close inshore netting.
The petition has been presented but there is a determined effort by some of the fisheries powers to ignore the petition and recreational anglers in general.
We desperately need as many people as possible to contact the County Councillors on the Fisheries Committee to make sure our case is genuinely taken seriously.
Please, please take a few minutes to e mail or write to the Councillors concerned expressing your concerns and emphasising the importance of recreational sea angling to you and the Cornish economy.
Below are the contact details of the relevant Councillors and sample letters to help if you need it.

Message from Chairman Mike
CFSA Fish Weighing Rules
Don’t agree?
Don’t like?
Out of date?
Time to change?
Then turn up for the next club meeting at the Bath Inn on the 10th June - start 7.30pm- and have your say.
Over the next 6 months it is hoped that a group of CFSA members/officers will sit down and go through the weighing rules to simplify and clarify them. They urgently need our help as a club to put our views and ideas forward to them, so this will be on the agenda for discussion at the next MBAS meeting. Remember it’s the clubs that make the rules not the individual members or officers.
CFSA Weighing Rules as they stand in 2014
1. All fish entered into the CFSA must be weighed on club's certified scales that have also been checked at the CFSA Fish Recorder's meeting held every year around November.
2. Hand held scales must never be used-a certified and checked spring balance type scales can be used but must be supported on a tripod or similar.Only for fish too heavy for your club scales (the rules actually say over 20lbs but most club scales now weigh up to at least 15kg) a certified commercial scales can be used e.g. fish market.
3. Fish weighing must be witnessed by a club recorder/weighmaster of your club or another club.
A list of recorders/weighmasters should already have been sent to one of the CFSA Fish Recorders.
4. Fish over 100% of the specimen weight list must be reported within 48 hours to the shore/boat Fish Recorder and retained for identification checking if deemed necessary. A phone call/text will most of the time be all that is needed.
Please stick to these rules-if in doubt contact a CFSA Fish Recorder.
Any rewritten rules will of course have to be passed at the next CFSA AGM
If you don't like these rules and want change now is your opportunity to have your say-don't moan later!

Peter Maddern:
A day at you know where today and had this first cast-garfish 775g (just over 1-11)
Sounds like a good day but in fact I had 2 rods out and in 5 hours had 2 bites the garfish and 1 mackerel-both in the first 20 minutes. Even the full time tinselers were catching at a rate of 1 mackerel per hour.
The wife had a bit of excitement!
Went round to use the loos and ended up standing up on the seat shouting for help when she realised she was sharing the cubicle with an adder. A man in a wetsuit armed with a towel saved her.

Urgent appeal from Ralph Elcox to Helston Angling Members past and present
Last year 5 trophies were dropped at Newtown Angling-Praa Sands- to be picked up by a member of Helston Club. The trophies were picked up but no one seems to know who. Can you help-the trophies are needed for the CFSA Presentation in 3 weeks time.
If you have any ideas please phone Ralph or alternatively Peter Maddern on 07855643419

Now I am always willing to give advice to young or new members and so was quite happy when one phoned me the other day.
"I've started using braid on my fixed spool and it's going miles."
What kind of leader knot have you used I asked?
"No it's ok, I don't need a leader, it's 50lbs braid."
You should always use a leader I said-braid can be dangerous to cast and you need a bit of stretch if you hook a decent fish.
Well, said angler took little notice and went off down to the Lizard.
He really really hit a big cast and the lead went out miles, closely followed by a chunk of his finger. Rather a lot of blood then proceeded to run down his arm. So if you see a club member wearing a finger stall make sure you show him some sympathy.

An excellent catch and release conger of 23lbs for that man Calvin Rosevear again.
New venture for club member Sam Narbett.
Sam will be running a charter boat out of St Ives this summer. Sam's boat is named BLUEFIN and will be fishing areas not often fished by charter boats. I'm sure he will be targeting the blonde rays and flatfish all along the north coast.
Sam has a website stivesfishingtrips.com here you will find a lot more details about booking etc.
Go on have a change of scenery and give Sam a ring.
Have a look at the other boats run by club members on the Charter Boat Page

Have you heard the one about the Porkellis man, the Pendeen man and the Mullion Man.
Well it goes like this:
First the Mullion man (Calvin Rosevear) had a dab of 550g-about 1-3-8
Well it goes like this:
First the Mullion man (Calvin Rosevear) had a dab of 550g-about 1-3-8
Next the Pendeen man had two dabs of 610g and 605g-both over 1-5 ........ Can't remember his name
Finally the man from Porkellis shouted "this is a better dab!"
We all held our breath and waited for the new club record dab to break surface-and finally there it was......
a beauty of 5790g-yes that's right 5790g! (About 12-12-8)
In this story there was also a man from Camborne and one from Penzance who didn't catch a specimen.

Temporarily there are no scales at Peter Maddern's house as his scales are now at Newtown Angling.
All fish will now be weighed in metric on digital scales. Basket scales will no longer be used to weigh MBAS club fish.
Please note that all 100% CFSA (not club specimens)fish should be retained until the CFSA Fish Recorder has given his go ahead for fish to be returned/eaten etc.
A quick phone call should be enough. Ring Will Harvey (club Recorder) or Peter Maddern (club assistant Recorder) see contacts page or your club book.
P.S. These are not new rules, these are the rules that have been in existence for many many years-just making sure the new members are aware.

Sorry there was a problem for some in getting seats last night.
At the annual presentation-with club numbers growing-we will need in future to get in extra chairs. It should be easily possible to borrow, or for perhaps a small donation 30/40 chairs from a local school, church hall or the Council. We can then set them out on the Saturday morning and return them on the Monday. There is extra space at the front as all the drinkers gather at the back. Hope the event wasn't spoiled too much for those concerned.

News from the meeting Tuesday 14th January
The first meeting of the year was well attended but it would be great to see some of our many new members attending. After the official business we have plenty of time to chat and it would be great to put names to the faces.
The treasurer reported a healthy balance sheet with membership already at 70 with the year only 2 weeks old.
The annual prize giving takes place at the Bath Inn on Saturday 25th January at 8pm with a free buffet for all members and their guests. Please feel free to come along whether you have won a trophy or not. It is a totally informal event.
Raffle prizes would be appreciated.
Please return last years trophies as soon as possible to West Cornwall Angling
The team captain would love to have new names for this years team events so if you would like to take part please ring Anthony Blewett 07976941690. While we enjoy winning we fish largely for fun and we would love new members to take part-especially as some of the old members really are old!
Their are 3 comps at the moment with 10/12 men teams and all are fished on Sundays.
We could also enter the CFSA's 4 man team events if members are interested but these could involve you travelling anywhere in Cornwall.
Members are reminded that the minimum bass size is now 3lbs for the club.
